Since I haven’t really had anything interesting to post in a couple of days, I figured I’d post my thoughts on my pull for this week:

Ultimate Spider-man #5 - Yeah, I’m a week late to the party, but my shop had an issue with their order. Anyway, it was awesome, as always. I really dug the cover, too. This continues to be my favorite series, along with ASM.

Amazing Spider-man #614 - Definitely the best issue of the arc. I liked how Waid was able to legitimately reveal Electro as the villain that he is. The destruction of the Bugle was done really well, and that black page with the single panel on JJJ really hit me hard. I’ve never felt sympathy for the guy until now. With the Gauntlet going on I’m worried about Peter’s personal life being tossed to the side. Hopefully Marvel isn’t planning on rebooting “Friendly Neighborhood” or any other spin-off series. Thrice a month plus Web is plenty.

New Avenger Annual #3 - So, the guys were all on vacation for this issue and the gals stepped up to save the day and get Clint out. It was a bit hard to believe none of the boys are around, but I did like to have the spotlight on the girls; it’s been overdue. Everyone forgiving Clint so quickly was hard to believe, but I guess the timeline on this issue isĀ right before the Siege begins, so it makes sense that no one really gives a damn about anything except finally attacking Osborn. Steve’s appearance was definitely all kinds of gimmicky.

Red Robin #7 - I really, really want to like this series, but so far it’s been nothing but average. In fact, the most compelling book with Tim Drake so far hasn’t even been Red Robin, but instead Adventure Comics #3. This series still hasn’t really explored Tim’s feelings and why he’s in the Red Robin costume. Hopefully with Bruce’s return finally announce this series will get some better direction. It’d be nice to actually have the Red Robin series have an important impact on Bruce’s return, rather than just using it as a gimmick for the series. The only thing keeping me on this series is the love for Tim that Adventure Comics instilled in me.

Punisher Max #2 - Another great issue for the new volume. While it’s still too early to tell, I’m hopeful that this entire run will be great. Can’t wait for more.

Invincible Iron Man #21 - The story was good and it was cool to see everyone join together for Tony. This is the only book that has used Steve’s return in a tasteful manner and I actually enjoyed seeing him. I still want to know who’s going to be “yielding the shield” from now on, but I guess we’ll find out soon. I just hope we still see a lot of Bucky from now on. He really grew on me. I think this series is going to sneak on to my regular pull.

The Unwritten #8 - It was great to see Chadron’s side of the story and I can’t wait to see how his kids get involved in helping Tom escape from prison. For an interlude, this was highly entertaining. This continues to be a great series.

Adventure Comics #5 - Since I’ve only recently gotten into DC, I didn’t fully appreciate this issue, but I got the general gist of it and still had a good time. It was funny to see Superboy Prime tear up DC’s offices in New York. I still liked the Conner feature at the end more, though.

Punisher Noir #4 - It was fun, but I think it was the weakest issue of the this miniseries. I think I’m done investing any more time/money into the Noir books. Except for Spider-man, of course.

Web of Spider-man #3 - Alright, it’s being yanked off my pull when I visit the shop this week. The majority of the comic consisted of the third part to the Spectacular Spider-girl story which has been pretty bad. The Rhino story was really short and not all that entertaining. Marvel’s just trying to make another buck with this series and it’s not adding anything at all to the ASM.

Deadpool #18 - This arc wasn’t as funny as Way’s other stories have been, but I realize it’s tough to keep being creative with a Deadpool series, so I’m not too upset. I’m looking forward to whatever’s next for Deadpool. With how over-exposed he’s been this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if he pops up in the Siege, even though I kind of hope he doesn’t.
