I originally wanted to see this movie in theatres, but what with school and all my friends living in different cities, I never got around to it.

The movie still looked stellar on my TV and the surround sound was great. The visuals were amazing. Sam Rockwell’s acting was eerie, creepy, endearing, charming, and sweet. He captured the setting and situation perfectly.

My favorite acting performance, however, was by Kevin Spacey. It was easy to forget about him doing Gerdy’s voice, but only because it was so natural and perfect; similar to how it was easy to forget Avatar was in 3D because it was used so well.

I love introverted, isolated movies where one character moves the entire plot. This movie was a nice take on that concept and exceeded all expectations I had.

This type of setting had been neglected for a while. I think the last movies that tried to capture this scenario were Red Planet (2000) and some other Mars-related movie of equally bad quality that I can’t be bothered to remember from the 90’s.

Anyway, Moon was awesome. I gave it 5 out 5 stars on my Netflix. District 9, Avatar (plot was shit, but holy crap visuals), and now Moon? More, please.

Update: Not knowing the other movie bugged me, so naturally I looked it up. I was referring to Mission to Mars, from 2000. I thought it was ‘99. Anyway, it sucked, and I’m glad Moon finally delivered on a setting that still has so much potential.
