I went to Barnes and Noble today and purchased Drawing Cartoons & Comics for Dummies. I’ve only gone a couple of chapters into the book, but the information is pretty good and it should prove really helpful in developing different perspectives on drawing.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s going to be “the holy grail” for a noob artist like myself. I’ve ordered 4 other books, including Drawing for Dummies, which should help me grasp more basic techniques before moving on and practicing cartoon style drawing.

I’m still optimistic, but I hope I don’t get frustrated with learning. The story for the webcomic is coming along nicely and I already decided on a name (and domain). It’s just annoying that my inability to even draw a straight line with a ruler is holding me back. Still, as long as I keep at it and accept that the comic isn’t going to look glorious in the beginning (or for a couple of years), I should be fine.
